Annie Lewis discovered her passion for handcrafted design as a child and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology while still in high school in NYC. After graduating from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and Pratt Institute, Lewis landed a position with renowned designer Anna Sui, where she met future design partner Helen Cho, the other half of the eponymous line that would launch officially in 2005.

Their first collection, which featured the lines’ trademark subtle geometric shapes and an emphasis on minimalist, forever pieces, was so well received that Lewis Cho was nominated by Gen Art to debut in the Spring 2006 Fresh Faces in Fashion runway show. Soon after, the label commenced selling to Barney’s New York and multi-label boutiques throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Having earned many fans among A-listers and their stylists, Lewis Cho designs have been featured in Vogue, Lucky, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD,) Instyle and People magazines, as well as the 2008 book, Young Designers Americas (Daab).

Now on her own (Cho left to pursue family life in 2009), Lewis is still inspired by the process of patternmaking & draping. She makes many of the Lewis Cho patterns herself in the studio in Manhattan’s Garment District with an expert team of in-house sample makers, while taking advantage of the talented sewers and artisans in the neighborhood. (Lewis Cho proudly makes use of American made goods and services whenever possible.) Next up is a plan to expand the line to include a vast array of accessories, a long-awaited finishing touch to the perfect, easy dresses and clean, feminine lines that are the hallmark of every Lewis Cho collection.
